HeroesCon 2017 Cosplay & Comics

Updated: Sep 26, 2019

HeroesCon has become a favorite summer tradition of mine. The convention is one of the oldest and largest independent comic book conventions in the United States. It's held the weekend of Fathers Day, so for us it's a perfect family nerd out weekend.

I first attended HeroesCon in 2015 when Stan Lee was a guest there, and it was crazy packed. They've grown so much, in my opinion, opening up another wing for the popular costume contest.

A few of my favorite artist and writers usually attend as well, like Kelly Sue Deconnick & Matt Fraction.

My first day was pretty eventful. I wore my little mermaid dress I created for my Con Comfortable Cosplay.

The Wonder Woman Cosplayer here, she created the entire outfit, from scratch!!

I ran into them in my hotel lobby, and was blown away about the detail they both did to create their costume.

You can follow the cosplayers on Instagram:

Phoenix Cosplayer- xkirakelly

Also I met BlueCanary Photography while there. She's the steampunk character.

I ran into Gregory Dickens who had a beautiful Star Wars Heroines Print. I had to have it. I also requested him to do a commission for Rogue Universe. It came out perfect!!

On the 2nd day of HeroesCon, the costume contest was held. Taser Face was the winner adult winner, he looked just like Taser Face from Guardians of the galaxy. Pink Bobble Head Stormtrooper was the winner for the kids.

This spawn costume, the dad that designed it said that the collar part was made with the thickest interfacing he could find , and they had to fold it down with something extremely heavy to get the shape to stay.

The Sailor Moon Ladies did an impeccable job. Their costumes were handmade completely and they didn't use a pattern. Talk about talent! They said it took them about 2 months to finish all their costumes. A few were finishing final touches the night before.

I had to see Miss R2-KT before I left.

Super excited for the next HeroesCon!

You never know I may try to get a booth set up at the next one!
